Naomi and Jun-Jun's journey through Japan inspired the creation of Konbini & Kanpai, which opened in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood in August 2021. Their love for Konbinis and the spirit of "Kanpai" led them to blend Japanese convenience store culture with the warmth of shared moments over drinks with friends and family.

For their second location – Konbini & Kanpai Wrigleyville – they have teamed up with Naomi's brother, Eric Hattori. This location holds special meaning as it was home to Naomi and Eric’s parents’ restaurant, Pan Asia, nearly 20 years ago. Eric, an experienced food truck owner and contributor to a notable Chicago food hall, PIKO Street Kitchen, is spearheading the menu. Infused with cherished family recipes, Eric aims to bring the flavors of his and Naomi’s upbringing to life through made-to-order dishes crafted in the very kitchen where the culinary journey of their mom and dad began.
